Summary
| Produced by Koensayr during the final years of the Republic, the Citadel-class was 36 meters long, relatively fast armed and armored transport built to compete with CEC's YT and YV class of light freighters.Costing around 200,000 credits, it was specifically designed to allow small but important groups, such as diplomatic parties or wealthy business owners, to travel in relative safety. To this end many owners modified their Citadels to provide higher levels of luxury.Known for their ruggedness and reliability, these ships had a broad, flat hull reminiscent of Lambda-class shuttle with two long, side-mounted vertical stabilizers aft and a short, thick stabilizer mounted between that holds the ship's transponder and comms array. The forward hull section housed the bridge and living quarters for the three-person crew - a pilot, an optional co-pilot and an engineer, with more cabins behind for 14 passengers.Quite heavily armored for a ship of this size and class, and equipped with military-grade shields, Citadels gained a reputation for being able to absorb incredible amounts of punishment and still deliver their passengers and cargo safely. It was equipped with a Class 2 primary hyperdrive, with a Class 15 used as a backup.While Citadels were passenger carriers, they were remarkably well armed for their role, having 4 configurable external weapon hard points. Due to their heavy weapons load-out, their powerful KM-440.al reactor, and underside external docking clamps that can easily be used to carry two small starfighters, many were re-purposed as fighting ships.During and after the Galactic Civil War, Citadels were no longer common luxury vessels and were used by groups unable to afford more modern ships, many of these reconfigured ships found their way into the hands of mercenaries, pirates and smugglers. | ||
